FAQ

What businesses ask us.

Answered in detail, the critical ones too. If your question isn’t here, a call or an email is enough.

Section 1

Price and payment

What does the draft cost me?

Nothing. We build a finished homepage for your business, and you take a look. Only if you want to go ahead does it become an order.

There’s no catch. No preliminary contract and no setup fee. If you say no, that’s the end of it.

What does a website cost with you?

Between €490 and €2,900, depending on scope. Base Camp €490 for one page. Ascent €890 for three to four pages. Ridge €1,790 for up to nine pages with a gallery and inquiry form. Summit €2,900 for restaurants and rentals, with room pages and booking requests.

All prices are final prices. No VAT charged, small business under German law (§ 19 UStG). The full breakdown is on the Pricing page.

How do you arrive at your prices?

From the work on your site and nothing else. There’s no office in the city, no sales department, no project management and no administration that your price would have to help pay for.

We don’t cut corners on scope. Every site is built by hand, to the same standard you’d expect from a big agency.

Do I have to pay up front?

Not the full amount. Half is due when you place the order, the second half when the site is live. By then you’ve already seen the draft.

For the bigger packages, splitting the payment into several stages is possible on request.

Will there be more costs later?

Only the ones you choose yourself. There are just two running costs. The domain at €5 to €15 a year, and hosting. Without a maintenance plan, hosting is usually under €5 a month.

If you want, you can add Maintenance Basic for €39 or Maintenance Complete for €89 a month, both cancelable monthly. Anything beyond that we bill at €60 an hour, and always only after we’ve talked it through. You’ll never get an invoice for something you didn’t approve first.

What does it cost if I want more halfway through the project?

It depends. If you need an extra subpage, we tell you beforehand what it costs and you decide. If it’s within what was already agreed, it costs nothing.

Quietly carrying on and sending a bigger invoice at the end is something you won’t get from us. Extra work is discussed beforehand.

Is there an installment option?

For the Ridge and Summit packages, on request. We then split the amount into three or four stages tied to progress. Just mention it in the first conversation and we’ll put it in the quote.

Is it even worth it for my small business?

Not always. If you’re fully booked, don’t need new customers and aren’t hiring, you don’t need a new site. And we’ll tell you so.

It’s worth it if you want new customers, if you’re hiring, if you keep answering the same questions on the phone or if your current site doesn’t work on phones. Work out what a single extra job brings you, and compare that with the €490.

Section 2

Process and timing

How long until the site is live?

Usually 14 days from when you say yes. That applies to Base Camp and Ascent. For Ridge we plan on two to four weeks, for Summit three to five.

The condition is that we get photos and details quickly. Without your content the site can’t be finished. Delays almost always happen right here.

How much of my own time do I need to put in?

90 minutes at most, spread over two weeks. Ten minutes for the first conversation, half an hour for the copy, twenty minutes for photos and half an hour for review and a walkthrough.

We take care of everything else. You don’t have to research anything, write anything or prepare anything technical.

How many rounds of changes are included?

Unlimited until you sign off. We keep working until it’s right. Nobody counts rounds of corrections, and there’s no surcharge for the fourth round.

After launch, small text changes are included in the Basic plan, bigger ones in the Complete plan with two hours a month. Anything beyond that costs €60 an hour, always agreed beforehand.

I don’t have any copy at all. Will you write it?

Yes. It’s included in the Ridge and Summit packages, and for the smaller packages we do it on request too. For that we need a conversation of about half an hour. You tell us about your business, and we turn it into the site. You read everything over before it goes live.

This part often seems like more work than it is. It goes the fastest.

I don’t have any good photos. What now?

The photos get taken during a visit on site. For most businesses that’s enough, and real shots from your own business come across as more believable than bought stock photos.

If you want professional shots, we can arrange a photographer. They bill you directly, usually €400 to €900. It pays off more for rooms, beauty businesses and restaurants than for trades.

Do we have to meet?

Not necessarily. The whole project can be handled by phone and email. A visit on site is still possible anytime, and it makes sense for photos anyway.

In the Chiemgau we can usually be there within half an hour. Meeting in person often clears up more than eight emails.

What happens if I want to back out in the middle of the project?

Up until you say yes, you can back out anytime, with no reason and no cost. After that, you pay for what’s been built so far, and you get the files.

Do you work outside the Chiemgau too?

Yes, technically that works anywhere. Our focus is still the region between Traunstein, Prien and Reit im Winkl, because we can meet in person there on short notice.

If your business is farther away, we coordinate by phone and email.

Section 3

Tech

What about my old website and my domain?

The domain stays yours, it’s registered in your name. We move it over or show you where to cancel the old contract so nothing runs twice.

The new site sits on a test address first. Only once you’ve signed off do we switch over. We redirect old addresses so nobody coming from Google lands on an error page.

Can I change things myself later?

Yes. You get a walkthrough of about half an hour, and after that you can update opening hours, prices and text yourself. It’s kept simple on purpose, so it still works even if you haven’t touched it in six months.

Bigger changes are on us. If you don’t want to deal with it at all, book Maintenance Complete and just send changes by message.

What do you build the sites with? WordPress?

No. Every site is written by hand, with no template, no site builder and no twenty plugins running in the background.

The advantage for you is that the site loads fast and not much can break. There’s no plugin that wrecks your homepage after an update, and no known security hole being exploited on ten thousand identical sites. If something does come up, we can fix it, because we wrote every line ourselves.

Does the site work on a phone?

It’s built for phones first and then expanded for larger screens, not the other way around. That matters more than it sounds, because most of your visitors come from a phone.

Testing happens on real devices, not just in a shrunk browser window. Buttons are big enough for a thumb, the phone number is tappable, and the site loads even with a weak signal.

Is the site legally safe?

We set up a legal notice (Impressum) under § 5 DDG and a privacy policy under the GDPR, matched to what your site actually does. We never load fonts from outside servers, we ship them with the site. That exact point is where a wave of cease-and-desist letters hit many businesses in 2022.

It’s built to WCAG 2.1 AA. That means readable contrast, use without a mouse and sensible labels.

To be clear. PEAK isn’t a law firm, legal advice isn’t part of the service, and we can’t give a legally binding assurance. The texts follow common practice and are set up so a lawyer can check them easily if you want.

Will people find me more easily on Google afterwards?

We lay the groundwork properly. A clear technical structure, short load times, easy use on a phone, and a separate page for each service. That’s exactly what a lot of businesses are missing. If you want, we’ll set up your Google Business Profile too, as a separate offer for €89.

We don’t promise the number one spot. Nobody can honestly promise that. How fast you move up also depends on your industry and your competitors.

Can people book appointments right on the site?

Yes, as an add-on for €300 to €500. We set up a booking system and connect it to your site. That pays off for salons, practices and guesthouses.

For many businesses a good inquiry form is enough. We talk through what makes more sense beforehand, and the recommendation depends on what you need, not on the price.

Do you build online stores too?

Not in these packages. A shop with a cart, payment provider, shipping and return rights is a project of its own with its own quote. We know the work involved from a shop we built ourselves.

Pre-orders without payment are possible, though, for a butcher shop, for example.

What about email addresses with my business name?

We’ll set those up too if you want. An address that ends in your own business name looks a lot more professional than a free private email address, and almost every domain provider includes it.

How fast does the site load?

The goal is under two seconds on a phone over a mobile connection. We get there by shrinking images beforehand and converting them to a modern image format, and by building the site without heavy templates.

That’s not for its own sake. Anyone who has to wait three seconds goes back to the Google results and ends up with the next business.

Section 4

Afterwards

Do I really own the site afterwards?

Yes. No forced subscription, no rental setup. You get all the files and all the logins, even if you don’t book maintenance.

In practice that means any other provider can keep working with it. There’s no technical trick that ties you to us.

What happens if I’m not happy anymore after a year?

Then you cancel maintenance at the end of the month. You get all files and login details, and your site keeps running, just without support. There’s no three month notice period and no remaining contract term.

We ask once what was missing. Not to change your mind, but because the answer goes into our next project.

What happens if something happens to you?

A fair question with an owner-run business. That’s why there are no special setups. Your site is made of normal files on a normal server, and you have the login details, not just us.

If PEAK is ever out of the picture, any web developer can take over your site. That independence is on purpose.

How do I reach you if something breaks?

By phone or email, evenings too. With a maintenance plan we look at urgent issues the same day, otherwise within two business days.

With the maintenance plans we also monitor the site automatically. So an outage usually gets caught before you notice it.

Do I really need maintenance?

No. Maintenance is optional. If you want to look after your site yourself and feel confident with the technical side, you save the money.

It makes sense if things change often at your business, if you don’t want to deal with it, or if downtime costs you sales, like a restaurant in peak season.

What if I need more pages later?

Then we add them. The site is built so that an extra page doesn’t mean rebuilding anything. We’ll tell you what it costs beforehand.

The Complete plan includes two hours a month, which often already covers a small extra page.

Why should I trust PEAK with my website?

Because you see what you get beforehand. The finished draft is in front of you before you pay anything. If it doesn’t convince you, it costs you nothing. That’s not a figure of speech, it’s how we work.

Then there’s size. PEAK only takes on a few projects at a time, and each one gets personal attention, from the first conversation to the handover. There’s more on the About us page.

Can I see how many people visit my site?

Yes, if you want, we set up privacy-friendly visitor counting that works without cookies and without a consent banner. You’ll see how many visitors come and which pages they read.

We don’t use Google Analytics by default. For most businesses it adds little insight, but it does bring consent requirements.

Your question isn’t here?

Then give us a call or write to us. We answer the same day, and if the question comes up more often, we add it here.
